How it works
Average cost = total staked × house edge. A £1 bet at 2.7% costs 2.7p on average, so 50 spins an hour costs about £1.35. Fast games add up: a 96% slot at 500 spins an hour costs about £20 at £1 a spin, even though the edge is only 4%.
Questions
Why is a slot so expensive per hour?
Speed. Each spin has a small edge, but you can play hundreds of spins an hour, so the total staked, and the average cost, grows quickly.
What does house edge mean?
It’s the average share of each bet the casino keeps over the long run. It’s 100% minus the RTP.
