About this video: Casino cashback and loyalty schemes

We follow one player’s week. A £50 loss with 10% cashback gets £5 back, and we show why cash is better than a bonus with wagering. A winning week earns nothing, because cashback only pays on losses.

Then we put a value on loyalty points. At one point per £10 staked and 100 points per £1, staking £1,000 earns just £1, a tenth of one percent. It also covers the UK rules on VIP schemes, which are for over-25s only and come with affordability checks.

Let’s see what casino cashback and loyalty schemes are really worth, with real numbers.

Say you deposit fifty pounds and play slots over the week. By Sunday, you’re fifty pounds down.

With ten percent cashback on net losses, you get five pounds back. Check whether it’s paid as cash, or as a bonus with wagering. Cash is better, because you can withdraw it straight away.

Now, if you’d finished the week up, there’d be no cashback at all. It only pays on losses, so it softens a loss, but it never adds a win.

Loyalty points work differently. Here, you earn one point for every ten pounds you stake, and a hundred points buy one pound.

So if you stake a thousand pounds, you earn a hundred points. That’s just one pound back, a tenth of one percent.

In Great Britain, VIP schemes are only for over twenty-fives, and casinos have to check that the rewards are affordable. If you’re ever offered VIP status, it’s a good moment to review your spending.

So, three simple tips. Check whether rewards are cash or bonus, check when they expire, and never play more just to earn a reward. Our free cashback and loyalty calculator shows what any scheme really gives back.

Rewards are a bonus, not a reason to play. You’ll find more guides at UKCasinoTips.com.
